Singapore’s AI Impact Focus: A Better Scorecard for Vietnamese SMEs

Ahead of Singapore’s October SME programme, a practical question emerges: what business result should an AI pilot earn?

A small business does not need to win a model-building race. It needs a technology investment that improves a task customers or staff actually care about.

Watch adoption as well as frontier research

IMDA lists the SME AI Impact Awards ceremony for 13 October 2026, alongside SMEs Go Digital Day at Suntec Convention Centre. As of this article’s 9 October review, that date is still ahead; this is not a report of award winners or event outcomes.

A separate UK announcement from 8 June links AI adoption support with workforce skills. These programmes offer useful context for the global debate: adoption capability deserves attention alongside new models and infrastructure.

Give the pilot a commercial scorecard

Choose an outcome before choosing a tool. An exporter might want more complete buyer briefs before meetings. A retailer might want staff to find approved product information faster. A creative team might want fewer avoidable revisions between concept and delivery. Each task can be evaluated without claiming that the business has become superintelligent.

Record a baseline using ordinary work. Then compare the pilot with that baseline, including review time and mistakes. Keep the sample and conditions visible. A result from a small controlled trial should be described as such, rather than promoted as a guaranteed saving for every customer.

Train the people who own the outcome

Staff need to know when to use the system, how to check an answer and how to report a recurring problem. Give the workflow a business owner who can decide whether it is improving the service. Training should include examples of failure, not only a polished demonstration.

Knock Knock’s role is to connect an AI opportunity with the brand, digital experience and operating process around it. For a Vietnamese SME, a useful next step is a focused brief and a measurable pilot. Build confidence through repeatable results. Recognition may follow later; the customer should experience the improvement first.
