A practical procurement framework for search-intent research, editorial evidence, internal links and SEO content performance.
- Start with buyer intent
- Specify research and evidence standards
- Protect the quality of the website
Start with buyer intent
An article targeting what is branding is different from a page answering how to hire a branding agency in Vietnam. The second request may lead directly to a service enquiry, while the first may belong earlier in the buying journey. Before briefing an agency, classify target questions by informational, comparison and commercial intent.
Ask for a content map showing the priority service page, relevant buyer questions and internal-link destinations. Articles should not compete with each other for the same query when a clear canonical service page can answer the commercial need.
Specify research and evidence standards
A good SEO content contract should state whether the writer performs original interviews, reviews primary sources, validates factual claims and updates published pages. Search engines do not require a magic word count. A long article with repeated generic advice may be less useful than a focused answer with a practical checklist.
For GEO, the same principle matters. Google describes valuable, distinctive and accessible content as a foundation for discovery in generative AI features; it does not promise inclusion through a proprietary markup trick. Evidence and clarity should lead the workflow.
Protect the quality of the website
Check headings, metadata, readable text, image descriptions, citations where appropriate, technical indexing, mobile performance and relevant links to service pages. Ask who owns publication access and how changes are reviewed before going live.
If an agency proposes dozens of articles in one batch, ask how duplication, freshness and source quality will be controlled. Frequency matters less than maintaining an editorial product your audience can trust.
Measure contribution to the pipeline
Report impressions, clicks and relevant landing-page engagement alongside qualified enquiries, not rankings alone. A citation in an AI-generated answer may not provide a measurable referral visit; acknowledge that attribution limit.
Choose a pilot cluster around one commercial service, publish a useful service page and supporting articles, then review search terms and sales questions. Extend to more clusters only when evidence supports the next investment.
Build a page-level review and refresh plan
Before publishing, record the target search question, primary service URL, main conclusion, unique supporting evidence and internal links. A reader should see the answer quickly, then have enough context to judge whether the advice applies to their case. Use descriptive titles and accessible text rather than hiding critical facts behind images.
After publication, audit whether the content is crawled, indexed where intended and connected to service pages. Track which queries actually bring visitors, whether users continue to relevant product information and which questions prospective clients still ask. Updating an accurate page can be more useful than publishing another near-duplicate on the same topic.
An agency should disclose editorial authorship and any use of AI assistance where it affects review expectations. Human fact-checking and final accountability remain necessary, especially for current regulations, market figures and claims about client outcomes.
